The Flying Scotsman is one of the most famous railway locomotives in the world – brought back to life in 2016 by the National Railway Museum in York. The first Steam Engine to record a speed in excess of 100mph. This record beating locomotive was also famous for offering a non stop service of 392 miles from London to Edinburgh. It utilised a larger tender carrying an extra tonne of coal and a corridor to allow the crew to change without stopping. Hence its name "Flying Scotsman" relating to the record journey time of only 7 hours and 20 min down from 10 and a half hours.
