Welcome MD-88 EC-FJE!

Our latest Aviationtag edition comes from the McDonnell Douglas MD-88 registered as EC-FJE. Delivered in 1991, this aircraft initially served the Spanish airline Aviaco and flew in its livery until 1999, when Aviaco was taken over by its new owner, Iberia. Iberia named the aircraft “Gibralfaro” and continued to operate it on scheduled flights.

After years in service, the MD-88 was parked in Madrid in 2008, where it awaited its final chapter. Now, in 2024, we have managed to secure parts of this legendary aircraft for our latest Aviationtag edition. Due to the long period in storage, the materials show natural signs of wear, giving each Aviationtag a very special patina and authenticity.

Please note: Due to the wear on the material, we ask you to carefully read the product information below before purchasing.

Manufacturer: McDonnell Douglas

Model: MD-88

Registration: EC-FJE

Last airline: Iberia

Important Note:

Each Aviationtag is unique and differs in texture, material thickness, and color. Small irregularities tell of the many years in the air and express the character of days gone by. Minor scratches, paint chips, and unevenness are completely normal and give the Aviationtag its special charm – that of a vintage product made from upcycled materials. These features did not arise from the production process but reflect the condition of the used aircraft material!

Please note that slight cracks and chips are normal due to the long service life of 16 years in Madrid and do not constitute a reason for complaint.

When used as a keychain or luggage tag, we recommend using the Aviationtag protective cover.

The McDonnell Douglas MD-88 is a twin-engine short and medium-range aircraft that first entered service in 1987. It is part of the MD-80 family and has been popular with many airlines due to its efficiency and reliability. The MD-88 featured modern avionics and could accommodate approximately 155 to 172 passengers. Although now retired from most fleets, it remains a symbol of aviation technology of the late 80s and 90s.
