Samba do Brasil!

Brazil is colourful and diverse – just like the latest Aviationtag edition! The ATR 72-500 from Brazilian airline Passaredo Linhas Aéreas means we finally have a turboprop back in the Aviationtag fleet.

In 1999, PR-PDH sporting manufacturer serial number (MSN) 572 was initially delivered to the Indian airline Jet Airways, operating under registration VT-JCA. After four years of taking to the skies with Jet Airways, the ATR 72 was returned to its lessor and parked in Ireland with the registration EI-FAN.

In November, a new lessee was finally found, with the plane making its way to Brazil to fly
for Passaredo Linhas Aéreas as PR-PDH. Passadero christened the ATR “Tucano” after a municipality in the province of Bahia.

In late 2016, the MSN 572 returned to its lessor and was parked in Saarbrücken. It was there that we discovered the colourful plane and were able to lock in the most beautiful parts for our latest Aviationtag Edition when it was scrapped!

Note: Every tag is unique. Depending on the plane, tags may vary in terms of haptics, material thickness and colour. Small blemishes bear witness to the plane’s long history and are an authentic reminder of its glory days over the clouds. Small scratches, flaky paint and imperfections are totally normal and give our Aviationtags their unique charm – the charm of a vintage product crafted from upcycled materials. These quirks are not the result of the production process, they simply reflect the state of the aircraft material we use when it was extracted. The original aircraft paint of this edition is rather sensitive, so please take good care of your tag!

If you want to use it as a key-chain or bag-tag we strongly suggest to use the Aviationtag protection cover.

ATR 72-500: The ATR 72 is a turboprop regional airliner made by the French-Italian consortium Avions de Transport Régional for short-haul freight and passenger services. It was developed from the shorter ATR 42. In January 1986, the ATR 72 was officially unveiled, with Finland’s Karair taking delivery of the first ATR 72-100 in 1989.

The ATR 72 is the 4.5 m stretched version of the ATR 42. Like the latter, it boasts two turboprop engines. In addition to the extended passenger cabin, the wings were enlarged, too. As the plane’s fuel tanks are located in the wings, this also allowed the ATR 72 to have a larger fuel tank and in turn a longer range.

Its maximum range is a good 1,300KM and the maximum speed 511 KM/H. Depending on its fittings, the ATR 72 can accommodate roughly 75 passengers.
