The BAC 1-11: A New Aviationtag Edition with a Storied Past

Our latest Aviationtag edition Built in 1980 and delivered to British Airways as G-BGKE, it served at Manchester Airport for 11 years. In 1991, it joined the Defence Evaluation and Research Agency, was re-registered as ZH763, and flew radar trial missions. From 2006, the aircraft was operated as a flying labatory by QinetiQ, a multinational defence technology company based in Farnborough.

After its final flight in 2013, the BAC 1-11 was displayed at the Cornwall Aviation Heritage Centre until its closure in 2022. The front fuselage was acquired by the Solent Sky Museum in Southampton, while the rear section has been upcycled into our Aviationtags.

This aircraft tag edition captures the rich legacy of the BAC 1-11, making it a tangible piece of aviation history for collectors and enthusiasts alike.

Note: Anyone looking for a shiny or new-looking Aviationtag should not purchase this edition. This series clearly shows its age of over 40 years. Each Aviationtag bears traces of aviation history and has its share of imperfections, scratches, dents, rust, and paint chips, which also contribute to the uniqueness of each individual tag. This cannot be accepted as a reason for complaint.

If you want to use it as a key-chain or bag-tag we strongly suggest to use the Aviationtag protection cover.
